The following apps and cloud based tools were discussed at the 2014 BSPi conference in Sunny Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Click the logo to visit an App's web site.

Mail-Tester.com

Mail-Tester.com is an easy to use service that will tell you just what's wrong with your email. Does it contain content that will be recognized as spam? Is it fully validated? Are any parts of the message blacklisted? Learn all this and more for free!

RackSpace Email Hosting

Do you want an email address @yourwebsite.com? Do you want to be able to supervise all your email accounts, setup email forwarding and aliases?
Rackspace is one of thousands of companies that will sell you email, but at $2/month it's a great price, especially coming from a company
that maintains a reputation for having the best customer service in the industry. Because the $2 is per "MailBox", aliases are free. So if you have one mailbox "sales@mywebsite.com", you could get all the following at no charge...

  • joe@mywebsite.com (alias fwd to sales@)
  • lisa@mywebsite.com (alias fwd to sales@, CC to lisa@gmail.com)
  • tina@mywebsite.com (fwd to tina@hotmail.com)
  • everyone@mywebsite.com (fwd to Joe@ and Lisa@ and Tina@)
  • webmaster@mywebsite.com (fwd to your webmasters email address)
  • and more... and more... and more...

Smart Sheet

Smartsheet is an intuitive online project management tool enabling teams to increase productivity using cloud, collaboration, & mobile technologies.

iCloud KeyChain

If you're a mac user, KeyChain is already on your computer. Use it with iCloud and all your passwords, credit cards, account numbers, and more can be syncronized with all your mac and iOS devices. Your private data will be stored using 256-bit AES encryption on Apple's iCloud servers. Stop using the same password for everything just to save forgetting, start securing your digital life.

Random.org

Random.org's Password Generator will instantly generate multiple random strings of letters and numbers. I have bookmarked the 14 character setting I like here so whenever I need a new password it's a click away.
For legal reasons they will warn you that you shouldn't use this for sensitive information like bank accounts, however the passwords they generate are not stored in their systems, are transmitted securely with SSL encryption, and they give you more than one so even they don't know which one you picked. Ask yourself if the passwords you use today are at least as secure as this resource... no... didn't think so.

BaseCamp

In 2013, BaseCamp helped over 285,000 companies finish more than 2,000,000 projects. To say BaseCamp is intuitive is putting it mildly. Create a project, invite team members, make lists, upload files, start discussions about specific ToDo's, and more. Get up to 10 active projects for $20/month, and staying under 10 is easy when you can "archive" old projects... putting them out of active service without erasing any data.

Trello

Trello offers a project management service like Basecamp, one feature that really sets it apart... It's FREE!

From Trello:

Organize anything, together. Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, know what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a process.

Evernote

Evernote offer both Free and Paid versions, and might be described as a notepad for the computer age. Offering easy organization and thourough search capability (even searching inside your PDF files with a Premium account).
The PDF search should be especially attractive to windows users, who have to live their digital lives without the Search powerhouse that is Apple's Spotlight.

From Evernote:
The Evernote family of products help you remember and act upon ideas, projects and experiences across all the computers, phones and tablets you use.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.

In addition to basic messaging WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages.

HootSuite

Enhance your social media management with HootSuite, the leading social media dashboard. Manage multiple networks and profiles and measure your campaign results. You can also schedule social posts for specific dates and times!
